“Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”

Welcome to Holistic and Organix Pet Shoppe (H.O.P.S.) website. Although some products are here for purchase, this is also about finding support and information for your pets. You will find many topics here that professionals don't bother sharing or think to share.
Does your pet have allergies? Do they take a lot of medications prescribed by the vet? Maybe you can eliminate some of these by feeding a better diet and giving the right supplements. There's a lot of good information to help direct you on how to help (you) & your pets live long healthy lives.
Removing processed sugar and refined salts from the diet as well as removing corn, soy, wheat, potatoes, grains, and artificial ingredients that cause allergic reactions can have a profound impact on your pets lives and your own. Adding probiotics, digestive enzymes, vitamins and minerals (I recommend a Greens Powder formula for these), herbs, and good foods to your pets diet. Eliminate preservatives in foods. Filtered water (including removing fluoride and chlorine) is just as important. If at all possible add a good water filter since chemicals and heavy metals are in the water as well. Consider adding a whole house water system.

Protect Your Pets
Today's Diet and Nutrition
Sixty-three percent of Americans own at least one pet, and they are virtually unprotected from toxic chemicals. But The Environmental Working Group, which is dedicated to protecting both people and pets, offers great tips for lowering pets’ exposure to toxins.
• Serve organic: Choose organic or free-range pet foods. Check labels to avoid the chemical preservatives butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and ethoxyquin, and switch your dog or cat’s food regularly to limit the exposure to mercury in seafood.
• Clean drink: Give your pet the same filtered water that you enjoy.
• Throw out Fido’s bed: Crumbling foam that contains flame retardants can adversely affect pets. Replace their old bedding and make sure your furniture doesn’t pose a hazard.

• Vacuum often: Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter, and take off your shoes at the door to minimize your pets’ exposure to toxic chemicals in the house that have been introduced from the outside.
• Poison on the deck: If you suspect that your backyard deck was made with arsenic-treated wood, treat it with a sealant every six months, and don’t let pets play or sleep underneath it. Wash it with mild soap and water, but never power wash it.
• Skip the stain repellent: Pass on the optional stain proof treatments on couches, carpets, and car upholstery—they’re loaded with toxic chemicals.
• Switch to cast iron or stainless steel: An overheated nonstick pan can kill pet birds, and it gives off chemicals that may be bad for other pets and people, too.
• Green lawns: Care for your lawn without using insecticides, which may cause nervous system damage in pets that walk on the treated lawn, eat the grass, or breathe in the chemicals.
• Lose the litter: Use kitty litter made of plant sources such as wheat or recycled newspaper. Clay-based kitty litter is strip mined, causing extreme environmental damage during extraction.
• Ask the vet: Flea collars are generally ineffective and contain lots of chemicals. Ask about safer treatments and repellents. Or consider all natural.
• Safe suds: Use a safe shampoo on your pets.

The FDA (FDA-Feeding Death to America) regulates and approves prescription medications that have serious side effects. We need to make a change. Where else to start than right here.

There are no deaths from someone taking herbs but yet the FDA wants to put strict limitations on them..obviously because they aren't getting a piece of the pie. Herbs have been around for thousands of years and have helped many. I am here to focus on learning how to go forward using more herbs, less medications and eating better foods. Most of your foods you purchase in the supermarket are over processed, have all sorts of hormones, toxins, and preservatives in them, not to mention High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) in just about everything. This has been found to be causing obesity in children, cancer and Alzheimer's and other deadly diseases. The FDA only regulates and inspects (1%) of our foods coming in from other countries.
Because of this, toxic chemicals are being added into our foods as well as our pets. Especially with the recent warning for pets eating MADE IN CHINA treats. There have been many deaths and yet, the FDA wouldn't recall them. We need to make a change to help ourselves and our pets in our diets, with herbs and vitamins, and other self healing measures.
So I hope you find plenty of great informative information here. We have plenty to read and also shop around. Check out our unique and one of a kind items and Thank You for being with us here at Holistic and Organix Pet Shoppe.
